The Brain Signatures Lab is equipped with cutting-edge instruments to facilitate advanced biomarker research. Our lab features a wide range of fully automated ultra-sensitive immunoassays and affinity-based proteomic analysis. We also maintain a suite of specialized instruments tailored for molecular and protein analysis. This robust system enables precise quantification of biomarkers and the identification of novel disease signatures.
Fujirebio Lumipulse G1200

Using individual CLEIA mono-cartridges that support true random-access testing, the G1200 can process 24 different assays simultaneously at a sustained 120 tests per hour, all while minimizing reagent waste and eliminating cross-contamination risk. This is our gold standard for FDA approved CSF and plasma Alzheimer's disease biomarkers.
Argo HT by Alamar Biosciences

This is one of the newest shiny tools in armamentarium. Argo fully automates the NULISA sequential proximity-ligation chemistry, enabling high-plex protein panels with attomolar-level sensitivity and less than 30 minutes of hands-on time, making ultra-deep biomarker screens practical at population scale. The enable detection of 120 CNS derived proteins and 200+ inflammation related proteins in less than 25ul of plasma or cerebrospinal fluid.
Olink Signature Q100

This self-calibrating benchtop reader quantifies Olink’s PEA probes via integrated qPCR, needs just 1 µL of sample per 92-plex panel, requires virtually no routine maintenance, and streams NPX-normalized data straight into analysis software. We also have the full lab automation setup to do these manual Target 96 assays in a more precise automated manner. The setup of F.A.S.T. And Dragonfly also enables automated implementation of the higher plex 5200 proteins in <10ul plasma/CSF with the Olink Explore HT assays.
F.A.S.T. by Formulatrix

A 96-channel positive-displacement head moves liquids from 0.1–50 µL (CV ≈ 5 % at 0.1 µL) regardless of viscosity, granting nanolitre precision transfers that slash reagent spend and set-up time across high-throughput assays. This is critical for automating the Olink Target, Reveal and Explore HT assays.
HD-X SIMOA by Quanterix

This fully automated digital immunoassay platform isolates single enzyme-labeled beads so precisely that it routinely reaches femtogram-per-millilitre detection—about 1000× more sensitive than conventional ELISA—while multiplexing up to six biomarkers in a single run. This is our workhorse for plasma and CSF neurodegeneration biomarkers.
Aviti by Element Biosciences

Combining dual independently addressable flow cells with proprietary Avidity chemistry, Aviti delivers up to 2 billion 2 × 150 bp reads (≈600 GB) in 38 h at >Q40 accuracy, effectively giving our labs two high-quality sequencers in one benchtop unit while driving per-gigabase costs sharply down. The new Aviti24 upgrade will enable even higher reads and permit direct in-situ sequencing and multi-omic cytoprofiling on cell suspensions and cell cultures.
Jess by Simple Western (BioTechne)

Jess performs capillary Westerns end-to-end—separation, immunoprobing, washes, chemiluminescent + fluorescent detection, and built-in total-protein normalization—returning quantitative, picogram-level data in roughly three hours from sample load without the messiness of running gels, transferring gels to blots and Western blotting.
xMAP Intelliflex by Thermo Fisher

Featuring dual 405/532 nm reporter lasers and a ≥5.5-log dynamic range, Intelliflex reads up to 500 analytes per bead set—or two parameters per analyte on the DR-SE model—and can finish a 96-well protein or nucleic-acid plate in about 20 minutes.
QuantStudio 3 by Thermo Fisher

Factory-calibrated VeriFlex blocks provide three independent temperature zones for fine optimization, the system discriminates 1.5-fold expression changes, in a compact 96-well format, for running RTPCR assays.
